The Oceanic Whitetip (Carcharhinus longimanus) is an open ocean predator. Like its smaller, in-shore cousin, the Whitetip Reef Shark, it probably tricks prey fish into coming close because they mistake the white at the ends of grey fins for small, silvery fish. This giant competes with human tuna fisherman and often wins.
